Project Life : Week 18

For those keeping track, I have skipped Week 17, also know as Week In the Life. I have an idea of what I would like to do, but no time do it. Perhaps I need another weekend away to finish. Does that sound good to you, Megan?  :) Here is a look at this week's full page spread:

Two thoughts come to mind when I look at this week. First, I love that there is lots of journaling. Lots of words means there is lots of story goodness. Second, I love that the layout is pink and girly. Havig Rowan has really helped me to embrace all the pink embellishments in my stash. As always, I continue to use Instagram photos and Martha Stewart Labels.  Stories documented this week include: what Rowan wore; tickets from our trip to the AGO to see the Picasso exhibit; celebrating cousing Micki's 5th birthday party; thoughts about maternity leave and returning to work and Rowan developing teeth.

Project Life : Week 16

Hello Project Life, Week 16! 

Week 16 shall be named, here on in, the "black and white" week. With 15 weeks underneath my belt, I really wanted to shake things up. Actually, truth be told, I wasn't feeling the layout with colour photos so I decided to turn them all into black and white. Viola = Black and White Week in Project Life.

As you can see, I kept things simple. I used all blank journaling cards and choose green and pink as colour accents. Stories I documented this week include: time spent visiting my parents, Aaron's business trip to Reno; Rowan's sudden love of books, Rowan's attempts to roll over;  booking tickets to Summer CHA, as well as my weekend away at a scrapbooking retreat.

Project Life : Week 15

Hello Project Life, Week 15!

This week, I went back to basics. Instagram photos + words with a few Martha Stewart Labels and letter stickers. At the heart of this week's spread, is simple scrapping, and I love it. It took me longer to choose and print out the photos than it did to document my stories. Hello scrapbooking freedom.

Lots of colour and lots of little bits of information. Stories documented this week include: the building of the exersaucer aka "circle of neglect"; highlighting Rowan's routines; finishing the final book of the Hunger Games; shopping for hardware for our bathroom renovation and a review of all the coffee shops we have visited while on my maternity leave. Just a random collection of information for this week on Lee Avenue.

Project Life : Week 14

Hello Project Life, Week 14!

With Week In the Life behind us, I can finally start catching up with Project Life!

This week, I had a mixture of Instagram pics and photos from my camera. It seems that the photos from my iPhone are snapshots of our "everyday life", where as the pictures taken on my camera, are from an event, like Easter. It will be interesting to see if this trend with me continues over the year. I can't believe how quickly my iPhone has become my camera of choice! 

I was trying to channel the colours of the season for this layout. I think the Easter bunny would be proud!  Here is a look at the left side:

Given my style, it seems that there were alot more photos than words. The stories I did document this week include: Rowan growing, growing, growing; a recipe for Apple Raspberry Crumble as well as new and old Easter traditions our family celebrates. 

I love that the cousins dressed up as bunnies. Obviously Pickle wasn't mobile this year and so there was no Easter Egg hunt. I do look forward to the day we can search for eggs. Who knows, next year, Rowan-girl may be running away from those huge pink ears!

Project Life: Week 12 & Week 13

Hello Project Life, Week 12 & 13!

Catching up on this project feels so good. Not only to get it done, but also to see my life documented. Blogging has kept me honest and on track. 

Currently I am at a scrapbooking retreat. I thought given an ample amount of time to "play", my layouts would be different. Funny, this is not the case. Having a baby has really helped me to make quick scrapbooking decisions and to trust my gut instincts.

Week 12

Here is a look at my full page spread: 

This week, I had more photos from my big camera than my iPhone. I love that I can switch back and forth between the two depending on my mood and how busy our life is. Stories highlighted include family naps, Rowan discovering her feet, hanging out with "maternity leave" friends, my uncle's wedding and our Belly to Baby Photobook. 

Week 13

This week, I included more memorabilia in my layout. I saved a sticker from Rowan's highchair and part of the box of rice cereal. I love incorporating these items and hope to do more of this in the weeks ahead. I also love that this layout has a red/pink colour scheme. Sometimes photos from our life coordinate and other weeks they don't and that is okay. Stories documented this week include: the first time Rowan ate solid foods, planning our bathroom renovation and visiting Grandma and Grandpa after their trip to Florida.  

Well I must get back to the retreat to scrap some more.

Project Life : Week 11

Hello Project Life, Week 11!

Another week and another colourful layout! I didn't know how much fun it is to scrap in colour. I feel like a scrapbooker from the movie Pleasantville, who just step out of black and white and now experiencing all the joys of the rainbow. Seriously, I am so glad that I bought the Amber edition of Project Life.  Here is a look at the left page spread:

Overall, I try to include photos of everyone in our wee family. Unfortunately, Aaron didn't make the cut this week. Charlie-boy, on the other hand, was captured in two photos. Rowan-girl, as always, is featured front and centre. This week I included stories on: the warm weather and Charlie's reluctance to leave the dog park, Rowan's love for bathtime, how we celebrated St. Patrick's day, my first shopping adventure in Carter's and a sneak peak at our morning routine.

Project Life : Week 10

Hello Project Life, Week 10!

Ten weeks in and my formula hasn't really changed. I'm kickin' it old school, mixing traditional supplies, like Thickers, with Instragram photos. I would love to add more digital brushes or 6 x 12 inserts, but this is as good as it gets when you have a 4 month old.

I have relied on my blog a lot of my material. Thank you Typepad, for being my living, breathing digital scrapbook and source of information! The time and energy I do spend on my layouts for Project Life are making a simple grid of Instagram photos in PSE. The grid is 3 inches by 3 inches. I simply, open 9 instragram photos and resize them to 1 inch by inch each. From there I create a new 4x6 canvas and drag and drop. After aligning and distributing the photos, I print them on my photo printer at home. I like the look of the completed collage and it makes me feel somewhat creative.

This week I included stories about changing up our bedtime routine, transitioning to from the bassinet to the crib, and our trip to the movies. I love that there is a mix of important and silly stories; fun photos and photos that accurately capture of life right now. It may not be the "prettiest" layout, but it does the job.

Project Life : Week 9

Hello Project Life, Week 9!

I realized two things this week. FIrst, I use a lot of Instagram photos in my layouts; and second, I don't know if I would love this project as much as I do, if I didin't have my iPhone. Since my phone goes everywhere I do, it is the first camera I think to use when I want to capture a moment. For me, I need this project to be easy. Carrying around a four month old and a big DSLR doesn't seem easy to me. With that said here is a look at my double page spread:

As always, this double page spread is a traditional layout, using thickers from my stash. This week, I stepped away from the Martha Stewart labels and focused on my stories. You could say I retured to journaling, journaling, journaling! On the first side,  I included stories on losing the Oscar Cup at my work, playing dress up at the Baby Gap in the Eaton's Centre and highlighting my decision to become a better blogger:

And on the second page, I talked about Rowan visiting her cousins in Guelph over the weekend, the hot date I had with Aaron and showing off my lemon drizzle cake: 

Although, I used Instagram to get a certain look, I drew on my blog for information and stories. Thank goodness I have an online record for all my thoughts.

Project Life : Week 8

Hello Project Life, Week 8!

Confession: I spent the weekend "catching up" on this project. Working on three weeks at once makes my head spin. I am happy with what I have made but I was stressed that I was missing something. I had to remind myself that I can't record every story. It's the totality of this project that makes it awesome. With that said, here is a look at my two page spread:

I noticed a few themes or repitiations in my my pictures this week.....like 42 photos of food. Instead of trying to capture each story individually, I only selected photos that I loved. I then used one word to summarize the week's themes. Here are the single page view few close ups:

To make the double page spread cohesive, I used one set of stickers from my stash. As always, I paired these stickers with my favourite Martha Stewart File Folder labels from Avery. I love the simple and graphic result. This week I included a story on re-arranging Rowan's clothes and how big she is getting: 

I also focused on how she is grasping for toys and and "playing" with them. Of course with I say "play", I really mean "to try and put whatever object is in her hands into her mouth"....

And special moments of Rowan and I having fun, like dancing in our living room to the song, "Change Sheets" by Kathleen Edwards:

So, it may not be wordy, but it's simple and good enough. Because it's about moving forward, one foot in front of the other.

Project LIfe : Week 7

Hello Project Life, Week 7!

This week's layout is not short on colour. Generally when I scrapbook, I perfer to use two or three "go-to" colour combinations. With Project Life, I am breaking out of my comfort zone and that excites me.  

This week, I included journaling cards reflecting on Whitney Houston's death, Valentine's Day and my new obsession with Downton Abbey. I also included two of my favourite products right now: Instagram photos and Martha Stewart labels. 

As always, I included a "Week In Review" card. Any given week, I look to my blog and tweets for stories. This week, I included this summary of Rowan turning three months old. I love that I am keeping up the stories that are most relevant to my family today. 

Good thing I have been hoarding American Craft Thickers. I have used more left over bits including numbers and astericks in the past few weeks that I can remember. I love using up my stash.
