Recently, I was telling a friend that Aaron and I were going on vacation. Yes, for the next 72 hours we will be baby free as we take a trip up north to enjoy some couple alone time. That friend, who is also a parent, wished us a boring vacation. Instead of being offended, I took the advice to heart. Let's be honest, after running around a very busy baby, I would love to be bored. Bored is exactly what I want to be.
So this morning we dropped Pickle off at my parents and drove to this lovely resort. I am keeping my expecations low and not planning to do any over the top activities. I would consider my boring vacation a success if I did any of the following:
*Sleep in three days in a row
*Drink a full cup of coffee while reading the paper at my lesiure
*Read this book.
*Eat dinner together with Aaron. Sitting down. While it's still hot.
*Drinking a glass or four of wine.
*Work out.
*Get a massage.
*Have a 20 minute shower.
*Go to a movie just because.
*Catch up on tv shows like Homeland, Downton Abbey and watch a few episodes of Girls.
So wish me luck in my quest for a boring vacation. No rush to pack, to find my passport and to arrive to the airport on time. No check list of things I want to see in a far away place. No rush from one place to another. The only pressure is to just be.
Happy Thursday!
