1. Recently, I bought these new running shoes.
2. I signed up for this 10 km race at the end of July, which is held at bottom of our street. If training goes as planned, I will run this half marathon at the end of September.
3. I consider myself a runner. In the past four years, I have run 2 full marathons, 1 thirty km race and 3 half marathons. It is incredible how much of my well being is dependent on physical activity.
4. Yesterday I went to the zoo with some old friends from high school. I had fun playing “Auntie”. I took pictures, pushed strollers and played eye spy. Oh and I saw some monkeys, tigers and giraffes too.
5. Last night, I watched Footloose on TV. Although it came out in 1984, when I was 4 years old, I have still managed to watch it 452 times. That might be a slight exaggeration, but its true that I am a sucker when it comes to 80’s movies.
6. My favourite 80’s movie you ask? Although I love the whole awkward, misunderstood, Molly Ringwald teenager routine, I would have to say that Say Anything is currently my favourite film from that era. Seriously, there was a point in time that I wanted to marry Lloyd Dobler. Or have a boy hold up a silver stereo over his shoulders playing Peter Gabriels “In Your Eyes”. Either one, I’m not picky.
7. Today, Sarah Harmer comes out with her new album. Think Neko Case, only Canadian. Her first solo album, “You were Here” was the soundtrack to my second year of university.
8. Tonight after work, I am headed to the farmer’s market. I am excited to try this recipe with ingredients that are in season.
9. As Toronto prepares for the G8 summit this weekend, I am heading out of the city for a girls cottage weekend. Seriously, I can’t wait. The cottage is on an island and I have the most peaceful sleep there.
10. Yesterday was hot. How do I know? Charlie hung out under a tree at the dog park and with his “crazy tongue” out.

I love Say Anything! Such a sweet movie. Good luck at your races. I'm in awe of people who can run half and full marathons. I've only run 5Ks.
